Week 13 review

Image
This is so cute! [ source ] I really enjoyed watching this video in its entirety. Everything he said is true. I often find myself wondering how to be genuinely happy. When I went through a bad break-up I kept asking myself what made me happy. I was so used to my boyfriend that it felt like once he wasn't there anymore I wasn't happy either. I searched and searched for things that brought me happiness but it was pointless.  It took me a while to finally realize that I needed to appreciate everything in my life because others aren't so fortunate. Once I started being grateful for everything in my life I started to feel happiness. Everything was right at the right time. He spoke about opportunities and I think it is so important to appreciate every opportunity we get because we aren't guaranteed anything. We have that moment and we have to appreciate it for what it is. "Opportunity is the gift within every gift", this was my favorite quote from the video. ...

Famous Last Words... Surviving the last few weeks

Image
I am currently enrolled in 19 hours this semester. I am taking one class at a community college and the rest at OU. Juggling everything this semester has been tough but I am making it work. In the middle of the semester I found out that I would be leaving on November 28th for 3 weeks of training for the National Guard. That put me into a huge bind because I would be missing finals. Luckily, my professors have been working with me and have allowed me to take finals early. However, that means that I am cramming every project and studying for all exams into two weeks! It has been tough and super stressful. I am taking Health Coaching as an HES elective and I have a client who I have to coach to meet their goals. This class helped me with that class in a way. I have to be very positive and help my client with their growth. I have taken some quotes from this class as well as shown her the growth cats and she loved them. That class has been a great learning experience on its own. I am able...

Wikipedia Trail from Karma to Greek Underworld

Image
Karma I chose to start with karma because it is a topic that I find fascinating. There are so many theories about it and I have really been interested in it this semester. Reincarnation After karma I was driven to click on the "rebirth" link. This was interesting because I had read that karma follows you through your life forms. Being reborn into a different life is also something that I find interesting to look into. Orphism I clicked on this link because I had never heard of the Orphic religion before. It is a religion based on literature by the mythical poet Orpheus. Greek Underworld This was an interesting link to click on all on its own. They way they see the underworld and the entrance to it is interesting to me. It also mentioned Hades which I am familiar with in greek mythology. Hades. [ source ]

Growth Mindset... My favorite cats

Image
[ source ] I liked this image because I think a lot of times we become trapped in our own comfort zones and it doesn't allow for growth. It can often be scary to explore outside of what we know but we can accomplish so much if we only attempted what is outside of our safe space.  [ source ] This is definitely a favorite because education is so important to me. Learning comes from curiosity. When people want to know something they will ask questions or research it. I used to be an education major and it is still such an important aspect for me. We have so much room to grow when we ask questions and then are able to teach others.  [ source ] This one is somewhat of a goal for me. I struggle a lot with learning to let things go and not letting the past affect my future, It can be hard for me but I know that once I able to do that I can look as relaxed as the cat in the picture.

Tech Tip...Canvas Profile

For this tech tip I went and added a profile picture as well as a biography. I think it is very important to have pictures on there to be able to contact people in classes and remembering names can be hard sometimes. I also added a short bio so others can see if they are interested in knowing something about me.

Week 13 Story... Heart of Gold

In the small town of Rahda there lived an old man who roamed the streets without no where to live. he hunched over his wooden cane and with much struggle took light steps as he headed in his direction. His dog always followed along. The man never begged for food or money but the townspeople knew that he had no food or shelter so they would often feed him. Every morning he would walk to the schoolhouse and wave to all the kids as his dog sat next to him. He would then walk around town picking up any trash that littered the streets.  Old man walking down the street.
